Poconos Mt's Skiing & Snowboarding

There are seven ski areas in the Pocono Mountains, containing 146 slopes and trails. The names of each area are as follows: Alpine Mountain Ski and Ride Center, Blue Mountain Ski area, Camelback Mountain Resort, Big Boulder Ski area, Jack Frost Mountain, Shawnee Mountain, and Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain. They are all great places to go skiing and snowboarding, with Camelback Mountain Resort being the most well known of the seven.

All of these ski and snowboarding areas offer trails ranging from novice to expert. If you are looking for a large vertical drop, Blue Mountain has the largest in all the Poconos. For all those living in New York City, Shawnee Mountain is the closest and draws a huge number of visitors from the city. Alpine Mountain has its own ski school, so for anyone who doesn't know how to ski, but wants to learn, then this ski area is the best place for you.

If you're not into skiing, but do like snowboarding, many of these ski areas have seperate places set up just for snowboarders. There are enough half pipes, fun boxes, and rail slides to satisfy any snowboarder. For the best variety, Camelback Mountain has the most ski runs in Pennsylvania, numbering at 33. Ski Big Bear is another great Mountain to go to if you are only a beginner and want to learn how to ski or snowboard on the smaller and slower slopes.

Whether you're riding the slopes for the first time or have been enjoying the fast paced fun for years, the Pocono Mountain ski areas are the place to be.
